Our Story
Against All Odds Compton was founded in 2023 by dedicated community members as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on engaging, educating, and empowering the youth and community of Compton, California. The organization emerged from a desire to address pressing local issues and provide vital resources to residents in need.
From its inception, Against All Odds has been committed to creating safe spaces and offering empowerment classes, forums, and community centers. The organization collaborates with local leaders, businesses, and change ambassadors to foster a safer community through a comprehensive political movement in Compton.
A key aspect of their mission is communication, which led to the launch of The Against All Odds Podcast. Hosted by Casper Andrews, the podcast covers a range of topics including community issues, relationships, health, and business, providing a platform for voices within the community to be heard.
Additionally, the organization produces a docuseries on YouTube, offering an in-depth exploration of real-life events and issues in Compton through interviews and documentary-style storytelling.
Against All Odds Compton continues to expand its reach and impact through various programs, such as mentorship, gang prevention, and homeless support services, all aimed at improving the lives of those in the community. The organization invites individuals and sponsors to join their efforts in making a lasting positive impact on Compton's future
Christopher Bailey: Co-Founder
Christopher Bailey, also known as "CEE RIDER VISION," exemplifies the power of second chances. Born in Compton, he overcame a challenging youth marked by gang involvement to become a successful entrepreneur and community activist. Christopher's ventures include a YouTube channel, lowrider DVDs, and a clothing line. He founded Compton Activist Apparel, which supports local nonprofits. As a board member of Against All Odds Compton, Christopher leverages his personal experiences to inspire and empower at-risk youth, embodying his motto, "Do More For Others Than You Would Do For Yourself."
Dhahabu Reginald Bellard: Co-Founder
Dhahabu Reginald Bellard is a Holistic Wellness Professional and licensed real estate salesperson dedicated to community empowerment. Growing up in Compton, Dhahabu faced significant adversity, including gang involvement and incarceration. His transformation led him to a career in holistic health, with over 20 years of experience in wellness and coaching. Dhahabu is skilled in various modalities, including massage therapy and Reiki, and has worked with prestigious institutions and events. As a co-founder of Against All Odds Compton, he brings expertise in holistic health and youth mentorship, guiding the organization's mission to transform lives in Compton. His philosophy, "It's Easier to Stay Healthy Than to Get Healthy," underscores his commitment to community well-being.
Cynthia Nunn: Co-Founder / Board Member
Cynthia Nunn, a native of Compton, CA, is the founder and CEO of S.Y.L.V.I.A. N.U.N.N. A.N.G.E.L.S. As a community activist and ex-gang survivor, Cynthia's journey is fueled by her desire to prevent the loss of lives to gang violence and incarceration. Her motivation stems from the realization that in conflict, there are no true winners. Inspired by a calling she attributes to divine guidance, Cynthia embraced her mission to serve the community. Over the past 14 and a half years, she has dedicated herself to supporting thousands of people across all ages, races, and nationalities, embodying her commitment to God's plan for peace and empowerment.
Tucker Flores: Co-Founder / Board Member
Tucker Flores, born in Compton in 1975, is a Mentor and Community Advocate whose life exemplifies transformation and resilience. After a turbulent youth marked by encounters with the juvenile justice system, Tucker faced a pivotal moment in 2008 with a 25-year federal sentence. During his 11 years of incarceration, he pursued education, earning a degree in business and mastering trades, while engaging in deep self-reflection and personal growth. Upon release, Tucker dedicated himself to mentoring youth through personal training and boxing, instilling discipline and the value of hard work. His commitment to breaking cycles of violence and incarceration reflects his belief in second chances and the potential for positive change. Tucker's journey aligns with Against All Odds Compton's mission, inspiring at-risk youth and contributing to community empowerment.
D’Lita Miller: Co-Founder
D’Lita Miller, a native of Compton, is a dedicated community advocate and founder of a non-profit organization serving victims and families of sex trafficking. Her powerful testimony of resilience is marked by her work across the United States with trafficking victims and her involvement in gang intervention, having spoken at several conferences in Los Angeles County. In January 2021, after the tragic murder of her son, D’Lita began advocating for mothers of murdered children in Compton. She joined Against All Odds Compton in 2022, serving on the Executive Board for two years. D’Lita's commitment to empowering others and her advocacy efforts highlight her dedication to creating positive change in her community.
Casper Andrews: Founder and Executive Director
Born and raised in Compton, Casper Andrews is deeply connected to the community he serves. His journey from a youth involved in gang culture to a respected community leader highlights the transformative power of education and mentorship. Casper attended California Academy of Math and Science, broadening his perspective, and later earned a degree in Education and Public Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills. With over two decades at the Los Angeles County Office of Education, he has trained thousands of at-risk youth. As the founder of Against All Odds Compton, Casper is committed to creating a thriving and empowered community, advocating for peace and providing resources for those in need.
